We arrived in NY 20/8/2009 devastated at 7 am, with a flight from Hawaii. The transfer from JFK to our hotel we booked on the Amsterdam Court Expedia together on the fly with Super Shuttle (convenient). From JFK it took us two hours to get to the hotel (50th street). L 'hotel is strategically located at the corner of Times Square. The room was not ready and that the practice of expedited check-in we immediately went for a walk in the Big Apple. Let's start near Rockefeller Center ... but how high! Then we head to the famous Madison Square Garden where they keep the games and the most important events in NYC. We start our first experience with the Metro NY ... fairly easy to use and very efficient! The only thing is the oppressive heat that is below and NY in general. On the way out the smoke from drains, like in the movies! Reach the Grand Central Station, Flat Iron (the palace-shaped iron, very special ..) then stop at Bryant Park, this city park really nice! We got to sit in the shade watching New Yorkers relax during their lunch break! Return to the hotel and after a quick shower and a nap start with my favorite activity ... shopping in Soho! We finish up our. ride in Times Square ... that show that this path is illuminated at night! It seems to be at noon, a flurry of lights and happiness of people! We took two chairs and a table in the center of Times Square (available x anyone who cares) to examine with amused eyes passing the crowd of tourists and New Yorkers!
08.21.2009 Today we go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Excursion on the internet with Statues Cruise ($ 12 each. Departure from Battery Park). Well what about ... missed this tour to anyone visiting NY .. can not be said to have visited The Big Apple without having seen Miss Liberty ... It 'really beautiful lady in green and impressive! Wonderful view of the skyline of New York from the boat .... with all the skyscrapers that are reflected in the water!. Ellis Island is the island where landed immigrants, and now there's an interesting museum. Returned to Battery Park we stopped to see the ball inside his park. This became a huge ball of September 11 memorial monument was brought here from Ground Zero where he was when the accident happened that tt know. The ball does a little impression because it still bears the marks of what has passed .. several bruises testify. A torch is always lit in memory of those who unfortunately is no more. To complete, we walk to Ground Zero where the Twin Towers were. Impression that I did was what had happened recently ... via a go-to brigade cranes and media in general ... In short a big mess ... All cmq due to the fact that they are rebuilding. On the left there is a monument to firefighters killed in that bloody day. Behind it stands the World Financial Center where we went to have a complete picture of Ground Zero. Instead the opposite is St Paul's Chapel, the church monument that was the basic first aid for the wounded .. . Very moving visit to the inside where you can still see a bed, to remember loved ones lost on September 11 and degrees of uniforms of various police death. Really touching. We continue our. ride to Century 21 right next to Ground Zero for a little shopping. E 'center where they sell all the famous brands but there is a big mess ... most sincerely prefer shopping in Soho, Noho, Tribeca and Broadway where it we go away.
08/22/2009 Today is up to the famous Brooklyn Bridge .. Oh how exciting! I'm on the bridge of gum! And 'veramene beautiful, suspended in space with all these cables that make iron frame! We had a nice walk and after that we sat on the benches at City Hall Park behind him and play with the squirrels! Then we headed to Chinatown ... but we are really in America, it makes you think ..! A mixture of smells, strange fruit stalls, fish, chickens hanging everywhere ... What a strange world! Carina also Little Italy full of Italian restaurants just ... We end on 5th Avenue, the most famous street where police have shot hundreds of movies! Before sunset we reach the Empire State Building (tickets bought on the internet $ 18 each.) And in a moment we are 86th floor, kill them if they go lift! The city view from up here is priceless, you can see the yellow dots over there (taxi) and skyscrapers seem beside the cardboard boxes! What impression! We await the sunset and slowly turn on the lights of the city, the first 2, then 4 then 100 then millions of lights all around us ... Unforgettable! There is better spent last night in NY! And 'beautiful day but at night the view is unparalleled! Have dinner with a good pizza from Sbarro and continue with shopping in the 34th and robbed the store of American Eagle! We go to bed happy!
23/08/2009 Last half-day in NY. How can you leave without seeing Central Park? In fact you can not .. This park is wonderful, I never thought something like this ... Gardens, forests, lakes where you can rent a rowing boat, roads, rocks ... Incredible indeed! We did a walk of several hours and we saw only a part .. but how big? We saw the garden close to where John Lennon was murdered and whose center is an inscription which reads: Imagine, always full of flowers. Then near the exit there was a large concentration of people ... you guys, there was Toppless Day for the happiness of the boys! Unbelievable .. NY manages to surprise until the last! We leave from Central Park met and we start with a hot dog in her hands to our hotel ... Leaving NY is always sad! A flight to Italy awaits us ... alas ended our wonderful vacation! ... but the important thing is to live it to the end! Annalisa
